Limitless Talk Organization is a youth-led and women-led community based organization in Kenya. We work on civic education, transparency, accountability and public participation.
Who we are
We create spaces where young people, women and communities can talk about what is not working — and then we do something with what is said.
Most of what we do is not dramatic. We sit in community dialogues and listen. We visit schools and health facilities to see conditions for ourselves. We write letters. We go back to offices that have not replied. We keep records so that a commitment made a year ago can still be pointed at today.
None of this replaces public institutions. The money for a school toilet block or a classroom floor already exists, and it is already somebody's job. What is often missing is a person willing to document the problem, put it through the right channel, and come back until it is answered.
That is the gap we work in.

How we work
There is no shortcut in this work. The order matters, and so does the willingness to repeat the last step for as long as it takes.
Community forums, sports days, school meetings. People say what is wrong where they live, and we listen properly rather than arriving with our own list.
We go and look. A claim we have not seen for ourselves does not go into a letter, because the first thing an official will ask is whether we have been there.
Photographs, dates, the number of people affected, the specific facility. Evidence is what separates a complaint from a case.
In writing, to the office that actually holds the mandate and the budget. We keep a copy of everything we send.
This is where most cases are won or lost. One letter is easy to file away. Letters, visits and repeat visits over months are harder to ignore. One of our school projects took close to a year.
People who raised the issue are told what happened, including when the answer is no. Nothing corrodes participation faster than people never hearing the outcome.
What we stand for
Public decisions and public money should be open to scrutiny. We ask for the documents, and we publish what we find. That standard applies to our own work too.
Leaders are answerable to the people who elected them. We help citizens ask specific questions, in writing, through the proper channels — and keep asking.
Decisions about a community should include the people living in it. We work to get young people and women into the rooms where budgets and priorities are set.

We would rather be assessed on outcomes than on descriptions. Each of these started as something a community told us, and ended as a public allocation.
